I'm familiar with the concept of webrings but never participated in them during their golden era. Missed it completely although I did know enough HTML to create something back then. Recently though, the idea of taking content out of big tech owned servers and posting it on my own site seemed exciting and fun. It took me maybe 10 months to finally commit and stand something up though, but here we are. And I can't be too high and mighty with my previous "big tech" statement, as of typing this post, this site is hosted on fucking Cloudflare Pages. The build and deploy steps are what I like most about it.

But anyway, how about those webrings. Should I look at joining one? I don't really know if there is any benefit but I think it would be interesting to get my site out there more. I intend on spending a bunch of time lurking on existing webrings and finding a niche that I might fit into. A lot of indie sites like these tend to hold similar opinions on privacy and freedom though, so I think I'd be in good company for the most part.
